Auto-ethnography – Secret life of …

Dear all,
I hope you are doing well and healthy. I wanted to share with you an idea that came into my mind. I thought of making an auto-ethnography in parallel to our interactive installation prototype. Actually auto-ethnography was one of the methods that I wanted to use in the Intra project. The idea was to track data through/on/with body and through that data gathering critically reflect on the relation between body and data.

I thought of applying this method into our experiment and I came up with this data sheets (see attached). Basically, I am using a scotch tape to take the fibers from the garment and write down some data and reflections. I will try to do it with every garment I wear during a month period. It would be great if we could all do that. This could help us to reflect on our project in a deeper way, and we may also use the results during Fashion Revolution. What do you think? Do you think this would be valuable? I can do a better template and share with you; this was just a quick trial.

have a nice weekend
all my best,
Seçil

Dear Secil,
I love it! I will happily join in 🥰
Is it for every day the same type of garment – like the top body top layer (pullover, west, hoody, …)? Or do you mix and take the trousers and other types also?
If you would send me the raw template I can already start tomorrow!

Thanks for this great idea and all the best,
Alexandra

I love it! Im in too
I can also start today (it already made me reflect than when I stay working at home – like today – I wear more natural fabrics than when I go to the office)

All the best,
María

Dear all,
Finally, I managed to have a final template for our first-person perspective with micro-fibres. These are A5 sheets. It would be great that each of us collects fibers from our garments we wear everyday (on some days over a week). Then we can bring them all together once we meet in Bolzano, and reflect together on this experiment, and see if we have any collective insights. This could be a good ground for future publications 🙂
all my best,
Seçil
